Upon its release, the Twilight Saga: New MoonDVD picked up sales at Most Walmart supercenters. Released at midnight March 20 2010, fans jammed the 2600 supercenters early in the morning to grab the much awaited DVD.
The DVD movie features Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) who is is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) a member of the Quilite tribe who manages to bring some joy and meaning back into Bella's life. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested.
Due to the success of the first episode New moon has been titled the"Twilight Saga: New Moon"by the director Catherine Hardwicke who feels the teenage characters in her blood stream. There were numerous DVD release parties some of which were attended by cast and filmmakers from the movie. Summit Entertainment released the exact locations in various cities where gathering for the parties were expected. This DVD release took the nation by storm because of large number of turnout for the parties.
At Riverton WalMart Supercenter Friday night, 5000 people gathered all of them with one goal, to brush shoulders with cast crew and get autographed copies of the DVD. Most people arrived at this WalMart supercenter as early as 12.00 p.m. The WalMart general manager, said his staff has been preparing for three weeks for the event he had to order for more security.
Within four days of release, the Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD sold more than 4 million units in its first weekend, beating Twilight's sales of 3.8 million. The movie released in November, has grossed more than $705 million in theaters worldwide. A new movie third in the series "Eclipse," will hit the big screen in North America on June 30, 2010
