Michigan Born filmmakers New Release Promises Surprising Twist on the Parody Movie Genre
The greatest movies of all time never saw this coming
Hollywood,CA., September 6, 2010 - Michigan born filmmaker Charles
Dewandeler has just released his first feature film ‘Parody Movie’
to widespread critical acclaim. Mr. Dewandeler, who currently lives in
Los Angeles, returned to his home town of Detroit last year to shoot the
feature film. He then returned to Los Angeles where he worked on post
production for six months to add in visually stunning special effects
and additional digital remastering that will delight sci-fi, Indy movie
and comic book fans alike.
Parody Movie is a comedy about David (played by David Legato) who
decides he wants to be a film director. So he begins shooting short
films with his friends and posting them on YouTube. David quickly learns
that he has no directing or filmmaking skills and hilarity ensues.
“We’re spoofing the people who do the spoofing,†said Legato,
“So we’re taking the term ‘parody’ to a whole new level with
this movie.†This film also includes parodies of some of the greatest
films of all time including Superman, Batman, Star Wars, Star Trek,
Harry Potter and more.
Dewandeler decided to film the movie in his hometown of Detroit
before all the cast was in place. “David Legato and Curt Green came in
and read together at the audition and I knew instantly I wanted them to
play the lead roles,†said Dewandeler who hopes that this film will
help his actors get ‘discovered.’ “I showed the first cut to a few
industry friends of mine and they enjoyed the actors and their
chemistry together.â€
The Legato/Green chemistry works because the two are actually friends
in real life. “Our relationship on screen is very similar to our
friendship off screen,†said Legato, “so the chemistry was very
natural.†“I had a lot of fun playing me because I can’t really
act all that great,†said co-star Curt Green, “The most difficult
part was dragging Legato to the set every day in his hung over
stooper.â€
