Starting A Movie Poster Collection Can Happen When You Least Expect It

When I was a child, I bought a movie poster at a yard sale; it was for an old monster movie that I used to watch as a kid. Later I went off to college and packed up all my stuff, including the movie poster and stored it with my folks.
Later when I got my own place I found the movie poster and framed it so I could hang it up in my home. Over the years I decorated my home with all sorts of posters for movies that I liked.
When I got married my wife convinced me to look into the value of my collection and see if any of them were worth money. Too my surprise the movie poster I bought as a child was worth over three hundred thousand dollars.
When my wife was trying to talk me into finding out the value of my collection she had ulterior motives. She thought that they would be something that proved to be a waste of money and she would be able to convince me to redecorate the home in another motif. Boy was she wrong!
Now that she sees the value of collecting movie posters she has completely changed her tune. She actively buys me a new movie poster each month and we have redecorated the home. She just did not expect to redecorate in a completely movie based theme. I think that she has become more of a movie poster collector than I ever dreamt of being.
In a few months we are planning to sell some of our movie posters and go on a trip around the world. All of it would not have been made possible if I had not gone to that yard sale many years ago and bought that first movie poster. It just goes to show you that some people start collections without ever even trying.
